Course Description: 

The 2021 Budget has proposed a number of measures that have direct fiscal and tax implications and which were formalised in Bill no 65 – Budget Measures Implementation Bill.

Representatives from our Tax team will be analysing the proposed changes in Maltese tax laws and presenting practical examples of the salient fiscal features emanating from the Bill.

Target Audience:

The session will be of interest to accountants, lawyers, notaries and corporate service providers and other professionals interested in Maltese tax law.

  • Key changes proposed from an Income Tax and Duty perspective
  • Application of the proposed amendments in practice

Introduction by Anthony Pace, Partner, Head of Tax, KPMG in Malta

Anthony Pace

Anthony commenced his career in the firm’s audit function in 1990. In 1995 he joined the taxation services department and has since worked in income tax and value added tax. Anthony joined the partnership in January 2003 and he currently heads the firm’s tax function. Anthony has led numerous direct and indirect tax advisory engagements in banking and financial services, gaming, real estate and family businesses. He has also led several tax due diligence engagements. Anthony is a member of the Executive Management Committee at KPMG Malta. He is also a visiting lecturer in taxation at the University of Malta.

Roderick Borg, Associate Director, International Tax Advisory, KPMG in Malta

Roderick Borg

Roderick Borg is an accountant by profession. He joined the tax function of KPMG after graduating with a first class degree in both the B. Com course and the B. Accty (Hons.) course from the University of Malta. In 2010, Mr Borg was awarded the diploma in taxation with distinction from the Malta Institute of Taxation. He is currently an Associate Director involved in the provision of direct and indirect tax compliance and advisory services to domestic and international corporate and individual clients. He also delivers lectures in various seminars and professional educational activities relating to taxation matters including taxation modules to students reading for their ACCA qualification.

Jade Micallef, Advisor, Corporate Tax Compliance, KPMG in Malta

Jade Micallef

Jade Micallef is an accountant by profession. She joined the KPMG’s tax department after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting and Finance as well as a Master in Accountancy from the University of Malta. Jade is currently an Advisor involved in the provision of direct tax compliance and advisory services to both local as well as international private individuals and corporations. Currently, she is also reading for an Advanced Diploma in Taxation with the Malta Institute of Management.
