Accounting for Non-Current Assets
Course Outline:
This training session will be covering a number of IFRSs on non-current assets, mainly:
- IAS16: Property, Plant and Equipment
- IAS 38: Intangible Assets
- IAS 40: Investment Property
- IAS 36: Impairment of Assets
- IAS 20: Accounting for Government Grants and Disclosure of Government Assistance
- IAS 23: Borrowing Costs
- IFRS 5: Non-Current Assets Held for Sale and Discontinued Operations
The speakers will be going through the key definitions, initial recognition considerations, initial and subsequent measurement options of the above mentioned assets as well as the various disclosure requirements set out in IFRS. The three hour training session will also include a number of practical examples encountered by local companies when accounting for assets.
Pre-Requisites:
Basic knowledge on financial reporting is recommended

Lynn Camilleri, Assistant Manager, Advisory – Accounting Advisory Services
Lynn joined the Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) Department of KPMG during 2015 after completing her Master in Accountancy Degree at the University of Malta. Within the AAS, Lynn advises and assists a varied portfolio of local and international clients operating in several industries. Lynn assists clients in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and other applicable frameworks, and also works on a number of IFRS advisory projects regarding the applicability of accounting standards to various client transactions and restructuring projects. Lynn also provides technical training, workshops and presentations on specific IFRS matters.
Maria Attard, Assistant Manager, Corporate Accounting Services
Maria Attard joined the Accounting Support Services department of KPMG in 2014 after reading for the Master in Accountancy course at the University of Malta. Over the years she has been entrusted with a vast portfolio of both local and international clients across various industries. She has also completed the Diploma in VAT Compliance offered by the Institute of Indirect Taxation U.K.. Her current responsibilities include book keeping, VAT compliance, compilation of periodic management accounts, compilation of statutory annual reports and other related support services.
Yanika Drago, Assistant Manager, Corporate Accounting Services
Yanika Drago has joined the Corporate Accounting Services team within KPMG in 2014, following the completion of a Master in Accountancy at the University of Malta. She has undertaken a course in VAT Compliance with the Institute of Indirect Taxation U.K. Throughout her employment, Yanika has built a portfolio of local and international clients ranging from various industries. Her current responsibilities include book-keeping, the compilation of management accounts and statutory annual reports, VAT compliance and other related support services.
