Course Description:
Maltese tax law is constantly changing and this requires people working in the industry and service providers to keep up to date with such changes.
This session will provide an overview of the main changes to Maltese tax law which took place during 2021. The topics to be covered include:
- Updates made to the Income Tax Acts impacting companies;
- Updates in relation to Duty on Documents and Transfers;
- An overview of the main new TRAs introduced in the income tax returns for companies with effect from year of assessment 2021, namely those in relation to Exit Taxation, the Hybrid Mismatches Rules and DAC6;
- Updates to the Guidelines in relation to the Consolidated Group (Income Tax) Rules; and
- Updates in relation to share transfer procedures.
Target Audience:
The session is aimed at corporate service providers, law firms, tax practictioners, accountants and other professionals that are interested in Maltese tax law and are involved in structures that may be affected by updates in Maltese tax.
Learning Outcomes:
This session is aimed at equipping the attendees with an overview of the updates which took place within the domestic tax arena during 2021 in order to remain up to date with recent changes and enable them to identify issues that may require further detailed analysis.

Thomas Zammit, Senior Manager, International Tax Advisory, KPMG in Malta
Thomas is a Senior Manager as part of the Tax Function of KPMG Malta, having joined during 2016 after completing the Master in Accountancy degree at the University of Malta. He also completed the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation which is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Thomas’s role mainly focuses on domestic corporate tax and incentive legislation, whereby he is involved in the provision of tax compliance and tax advisory services to local and international corporate clients across various industries.
