Meet our core team behind the Audit Learning Suite. Our subject-matter experts work within KPMG Malta’s Audit and Assurance function and deliver seminars from our Audit Learning Suite.
The aim of this Learning Suite is to provide insights into the most current developments in Auditing, especially on recently updated International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and on other debates that are currently shaping the auditing profession. These sessions primarily target warranted auditors of financial statement. Some sessions may also appeal to preparers of financial statements, depending on the topics being presented.
Daniel Brincat, Director, Audit Services, KPMG in Malta
During his twelve years at KPMG, Daniel has worked on audit clients operating in a wide array of industries, including banking, insurance and gaming. Daniel worked for two months in the financial services audit department of the KPMG Toronto office, where he was part of the audit team of one of the top global insurance companies. Similarly, Daniel was also seconded with KPMG Channel Islands for a six month period, in which he predominantly focused on private equity clients, wealth management clients and investment funds. Today, Daniel is part of the management team of the Private Enterprise Audit Cluster, with his main portfolio including local listed entities and large international groups. Daniel is a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) from the University of Malta.
Amanda Formosa, Director, Audit Services, KPMG in Malta
Amanda is part of the management team of the Banking and Asset Management Audit Cluster, within the Audit function at KPMG in Malta. During her thirteen years at KPMG, Amanda has provided audit services to various clients, both local and international, with financial institutions being her main area of specialisation. Amanda also worked for two and a half years in the financial services audit department of the KPMG New York office, where she was part of the audit team of one of the top global investment banks. Amanda is an Associated Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and obtained also a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Management, from the University of Malta.
Michelle Spiteri Bailey, Director, Audit Services, KPMG in Malta
Dr Michelle Spiteri Bailey is a Director at KPMG specialising on audit quality and audit learning and development. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta lecturing advanced audit and assurance to students that are reading for a masters degree. Prior to joining KPMG, she worked as an auditor for 14 years and also led the Malta Institute of Accountants’ technical department for more than 2 years. Michelle studied Accountancy at the University of Malta and completed her B.A. (Hons.) Accountancy. She continued her studies and obtained a MBA degree in Finance from the University of Leicester, and a doctorate with Cranfield University.
Christabelle Formosa, Director , Audit Services, KPMG in Malta
Christabelle Formosa is a Director within the audit department at KPMG Malta with her primary focus being Banking and Asset Management clients. She received her Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta in 2013. Christabelle is a Certified Public Accountant, a holder of a practicing certificate in auditing and also a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Marika Azzopardi, Associate Director, Audit Services, KPMG in Malta
Marika Azzopardi is part of the Insurance Audit Cluster at KPMG in Malta. Having joined the firm in 2013, she has gained significant experience on International Standards on Auditing. Marika manages audit engagements and also forms part of the Coaching Team at KPMG in Malta, allowing her to develop an eye for detail in applying auditing standards. Marika keeps her knowledge current by researching new areas for sharing with colleagues during training and technical sessions. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Insurance with Honours, and completed her ACCA qualification in 2016.
