Course Description:

This session will start with a brief outline of the general requirements of auditor reporting and will then focus on other specific areas, such as Key Audit Matters and the modifications that are applicable in different scenarios. A discussion will then follow on the implications of COVID-19 on auditor reporting.

Target Audience:

This session is relevant to external auditors, preparers, users of audited financial statements, and auditing/accounting/finance students.

Learning Outcomes:

The session is aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of the auditor reporting requirements.

Prerequisites:

An understanding of the scope and conduct of an ISA audit.

Michelle Spiteri Bailey

Dr Michelle Spiteri Bailey is an Associate Director at KPMG specialising on audit quality and audit learning and development. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta lecturing advanced audit and assurance to students that are reading for a masters degree. Prior to joining KPMG, she worked as an auditor for 14 years and also led the Malta Institute of Accountants’ technical department for more than 2 years. Michelle studied Accountancy at the University of Malta and completed her B.A. (Hons.) Accountancy. She continued her studies and obtained a MBA degree in Finance from the University of Leicester, and a doctorate with Cranfield University.

Senior Manager

Melissa Mercieca is a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Auditor forming part of the Audit team at KPMG Malta, having the role of Senior Manager. She has graduated from the University of Malta after completing the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) Degree in 2013 while also holding a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management. Melissa has kicked off her career with KPMG eight years ago in audit and has since gained experience in auditing a variety of clients from different industries. Since 2016, Melissa has formed part of a specialised team auditing iGaming and technology related clients.
