Speakers:
Jonathan Dingli, Partner, Head of Advisory, KPMG in Malta

Jonathan is Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Malta. He co-leads the Corporate Accounting Advisory Services (CAAS) practice and leads both the KPMG Learning Academy and the firm’s ESG Reporting service line in Malta.
He has over 22 years of experience in the accountancy profession, complemented by 18 years of lecturing experience. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons.) degree, awarded cum laude, from the University of Malta. He began his career within the audit function of KPMG before being appointed as the first Technical Officer of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA), later becoming its first Technical Director.
In 2012, Jonathan re-joined KPMG to establish the Accounting Advisory team. In his role as an IFRS specialist, he has advised a wide range of local and international clients on complex financial reporting matters, supporting them in achieving compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
He subsequently assumed leadership of the firm’s training arm, the KPMG Learning Academy, and currently serves as KPMG Malta’s ESG Reporting Lead, assisting organisations in meeting the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
Jonathan completed his PhD studies in 2021 and lectures in advanced financial reporting to Master of Accountancy students at the University of Malta. He is an elected member of the Council of the Malta Institute of Accountants and currently serves as its President.
Steve Stivala, Director, Advisory – Infrastructure, Public Policy and Strategy, KPMG in Malta

Steve is an economist by profession and works across KPMG’s audit, tax and advisory functions. He provides the economic background and specialist knowledge required in a firm providing multi-faced business solutions to clients. Steve’s main area of expertise is Economics, Public Policy, and Strategy, bringing to the table an economic perspective to client problems, using both quantitative tools (Econometrics, simulations, data analytics) and qualitative insight (economic principles). During his time at KPMG Steve worked on several high-profile projects involving Industry and market analysis, ‘Cost Benefit Analysis’ for EU fund applications, ‘Socio-Economic Impact Assessments’ required by Governments (local and international) for various public decisions, Evaluations of EU funds and national programmes, and other economics-related work.
Kersten Mallia, Associate Director, Advisory – KPMG Learning Academy, KPMG in Malta

Kersten is an Associate Director at KPMG in Malta’s Learning Academy (‘KLA’), focused on developing bespoke training solutions for organisations while overseeing the Academy’s general operations. A Certified Public Accountant by profession, Kersten brings to the table more than a decade of experience working with KPMG across Accounting Advisory, Audit and KLA. His background includes financial reporting and technical accounting advisory, as well as audit engagements, primarily in the Banking and Private Enterprise sectors, alongside multiple audit secondments with KPMG offices in Ireland, the USA, and the Netherlands.
Arthur Schembri, Manager, Advisory – Infrastructure, Public Policy and Strategy, KPMG in Malta

Arthur is an economist by training and a Manager within KPMG in Malta’s Advisory function, working across Economics, Public Policy, and Strategy engagements for both local and international clients. He graduated in Applied Economics and specialises in applying economic tools and frameworks to generate insights that inform public policy and business decision making.
His quantitative work centres on econometric analysis to identify statistical relationships and support forecasting within a macroeconomic context. Alongside this, Arthur has been actively involved in public infrastructure and policy related engagements, including Cost–Benefit Analysis, Economic Impact Assessments, and industry level analysis. His interest in policy and international affairs further informs his perspective on evolving macroeconomic developments and their implications for businesses and the wider economy.
